Cultural journeys with the Art Gallery
Travel offers a unique opportunity to experience art, culture and history in the places where they were created. Our international travel program is built around the philosophy that direct encounters deepen understanding, and that looking closely, in context, enhances how we see and enjoy art.
Each journey is carefully curated to connect you with works of art, ideas and the histories that shape them. Whether exploring the world’s great cultural destinations on a World Art Tour, uncovering the stories behind major artists and movements on an International Study Tour, or bringing learning to life through an International School Tour, each program offers a different way of engaging with art through travel.
Led by cultural specialists, these journeys are thoughtful, immersive and socially engaging, designed for people who travel to learn as much as to see.
Open to all travellers, every booking supports the Art Gallery of New South Wales and its future programs.

International Study Tours
International Study Tours are designed for independent, curious travellers with a spirit for adventure who want a hands-on and immersive experience.
These journeys are intentionally flexible and exploratory, with smaller groups, use of public transport where practical, and more time allowed for independent discovery.
With workshops, discussions and fewer formalities, these tours encourage direct engagement with art, place and local life. They are best suited to those who enjoy stepping a little outside their comfort zone and embracing a more active style of travel.
