Edgy Athens: art, photography and urban culture
Around the ancient heart of the Greek capital, a new culture has emerged – bold, vibrant and adventurous, filled with daring contemporary art. Explore this dynamic creative leap in Athens via its eclectic street art, emerging neighbourhood galleries and repurposed industrial spaces.
You’ll visit Koukaki’s cosmopolitan galleries and hip boutiques, enjoy the breakout nightlife of Pyrsi and Metaxourgeio, walk graffiti-filled streets in radical Exarcheia and catch dynamic photography at Pireos 138, and tour vibrant new cultural hubs like the National Museum of Contemporary Art, housed in a former brewery, and the spectacular Renzo Piano-designed Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre, overlooking the blue Aegean.
Along the way, in hands-on photography sessions, you’ll capture Athens’ revived backstreets and bustling open spaces, and meet with resident artists, curators, and photographers.
Discover Athens through the lens perspective of Tony Maniaty, and experience the city’s edgy, contemporary spirit in a way that few visitors ever do.
