Sacred Threads of the Himalaya: Kashmir & Ladakh
Embark on an immersive Himalayan journey celebrating the region's rich tapestry of cultures, master crafts, and enduring spiritual traditions.
In lush Kashmir, uncover the intricate art of Kani shawl weaving, wander the historic old city of Srinagar and encounter the diverse embroidery techniques practised by generations of skilled artisans.
Ascend to Ladakh, with its dramatic Himalayan peaks, high-desert landscape and towering monasteries. Dubbed “Little Tibet”, India’s most northern region is a living Tibetan Buddhist culture where its spiritual traditions are integral to daily life, arts and culture.
We’ll visit an annual festival at one of Ladakh’s oldest monasteries where monks undertake sacred rituals and performances, including striking masked Cham dances.
Discover the Silk Route heritage of old Leh and venture into the remote Nubra Valley with its distinct culture. We’ll undertake exclusive hands-on workshops, visit weavers, dyers, potters, metalsmiths and restorers of traditional thangka paintings.
Join Joyce Morgan and connect with the hands, history and spiritual devotion that has shaped the cultural fabric of the Himalaya.
