Tokyo, Hakone and Okayama

This immersive 12-day international study tour for Year 9–11 students explores the dynamic intersection of traditional and contemporary art across Japan.
Students will experience cutting-edge digital installations at TeamLab Borderless in Tokyo, engage in hands-on woodblock printmaking in Kawasaki, and explore world-class institutions including the Mori Art Museum and 21_21 Design Sight.
They will discover art in nature at the Hakone Open Air Museum and Pola Museum, create work in sculpture gardens, and encounter Japan’s cultural heritage through visits to Himeji Castle and the historic Kurashiki district.
The journey culminates with studio-based textile and denim workshops in Kojima and a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, offering a rich, multi-sensory exploration of art, design and culture in context.
