Mike Hewson: The Key’s Under the Mat
Until 23 August 2026, lower level 4, The Tank, Naala Badu building | Australia’s most dramatic exhibition space is completely transformed as artist Mike Hewson brings his unique and boundary-testing brand of social sculpture to the Art Gallery.

Until February 2027, lower level 2, Naala Nura building | 'Super Nature' explores places where humans and nature interact and intertwine, the role of gardens as memorials, the wild nature that lives alongside (and sometimes within) us, and the cultivation of nature for survival and sustenance.

Pet Palace: By Little Orange Studio
Until 23 August 2026, ground level, Kaldor Hall, Naala Nura building | Created by the artists of Little Orange Studio in Campbelltown, 'Pet Palace' celebrates the unbreakable bonds – and knowing looks that pass – between people and animals.

Until 8 November 2026, lower level 2, Naala Badu building | Dharug artist Billy Bain reflects on the migration of the long-finned eel – a passage from saltwater to freshwater that mirrors his own path of cultural return.

Until 10 January 2027, ground level, Naala Nura building | With a name paying homage to one of Maya Angelou’s famous books of poems, this exhibition focuses on a culturally diverse group of women artists living in Australia.

Mechelle Bounpraseuth: ສູ້ສູ້ Sou Sou
Until February 2027, lower level 2, Naala Nura building | Encounter towers of mangosteens, big bowls of dragon fruits and giant stacks of canned food in this new interactive exhibition that bursts with colour, memory and ritual.

Until 2027, lower level 2, Naala Badu building | 'Proximate Cosmologies' draws on the Art Gallery’s collection to explore the universe through diverse perspectives that blur the boundaries between the spiritual and material worlds.

Until 2027, lower level 3, Library, archive and children’s art library, Naala Nura building | Pets have long played an important role in artists’ lives, serving as companions, models, muses and studio assistants.

Ron Mueck and Käthe Kollwitz: Silent and Noisy Tragedies
Until 1 October 2026, ground level, Grand Courts, Naala Nura building | Sharing a profoundly empathetic humanist vision, Australian-born sculptor Ron Mueck and German expressionist artist Käthe Kollwitz each explore the body’s emotional traces.

Kate Mitchell: In the Eye of the Giant
Until December 2026, lower level 1, Naala Badu building | Taking the form of a slowly ascending digital scroll, this moving-image work visualises seven emotional states that shape the artist’s practice.

Ongoing, Brett Whiteley Studio, Surry Hills | 'Coming Home' features 80 works from the Art Gallery of NSW and Brett Whiteley Studio collections, showcasing the creativity and bold experimentation of Whiteley’s practice after returning to Australia in 1969 following a decade overseas.
